  1. In addition, we calculated the ratio of additive and dominance variances (Ratio \(\sigma ^{2}_{a}/\sigma ^{2}_{d}\)) as \((\sigma ^{2}_{GCAf} + \sigma ^{2}_{GCAm})/\sigma ^{2}_{SCA}\). The traits evaluated were grain yield (YLD), grain moisture (GM), and percentage of oil (OIL). Further details on these calculations can be found in the Additional file 3, Note 3
