Effects of potential ROS modulators on cryptogein-inducible programmed cell death in tobacco BY-2 cultured cells. Effects of potential ROS modulators on cryptogein-inducible PCD in tobacco BY-2 cultured cells. Cultured cells were dispensed into each well of a 96-well plate, and each compound (final concentration 100 or 50 µM) was added to the indicated wells for 1.5 h. Next, the cryptogein elicitor (final concentration 100 or 1000 nM) was added to the wells and incubated for 24 h. The cells were stained with 1% Evans blue dye (final concentration, 0.05%) for 10 min and washed four times with water. Stained cells were observed under a light microscope. Error bars represent SE (n = 3). a < 0.05, c < 0.005; significantly different from the DMSO control
