Scheme of a SELEX round. After creating a library of oligonucleotides and incubating them with the target protein, the bound and free fractions are separated, usually through an EMSA, and the bound oligonucleotides are amplified by PCR, regarding DNA, or by RT-PCR succeeded by in vitro transcription, concerning RNA. This procedure is called a SELEX round and is repeated several times, being some oligonucleotides chosen in the last round and sequenced. Created with BioRender.com
