Time course decrease of sucrose was measured in the nutrient medium of sycamore cell cultures at 22°C and 5°C, in the presence or absence of inorganic phosphate (Pi). Cells were initially incubated for 5 d in Pi-supplied or Pi-free NM. The cell concentration (FW) at time zero was 20 mg ml-1 culture in Pi-supplied NM and 30 mg ml-1 culture in Pi-free NM.
