Typical results of bacterial counts in SAR experiments without (a) or with (b) leaf selection, as described in this protocol. Primary leaves were inoculated with MgCl2 (Mock), virulent (Pto DC3000) or avirulent (Pto expressing AvrRpt2) bacteria. Secondary leaves were inoculated with Pto DC3000 and bacteria were recovered as described in option 1. Three Arabidopsis plants were used per treatment.
