Analysis of lignin monomers in excised Arabidopsis stems fed with [13C6]-Phe. Lignin was analyzed by DFRC/GC/FID/MS from the base of 4-week-old wild-type Arabidopsis stems fed with 1 mM [13C6]-Phe for 0, 60, 120, 240, or 360 min. Labeling percentage (a) of each monomer was calculated using the labeled monomer (b) divided by the sum of labeled and unlabeled (c). Data represent mean ± standard deviation (n = 3)
