The principle of the split luciferase complementation assay for protein–protein interaction. Protein A and B were fused to N- or C-terminals of fly luciferase, LUC-N and LUC-C, respectively, and were co-infiltrated into rose shoots. The active luciferase enzyme will be reconstituted only when proteins interact, emitting light that can be visualized with a low-light imaging system
