Visual comparison of glutaraldehyde and methanol-ethanol (C,D) fixation procedures, showing before (A,C) and after (B,D) critical point drying. Some leaves were slightly curled at the margins (A); this curling did not seem to change after processing (B), which was the same for curled leaves processed through all other fixative regimes. All images are at the same magnification. Scale bar = 2 mm, shown in D.
