Specificity, efficiency, and reproducibility of PCR primers designed to amplify reference gene transcripts. Specificity of primers was confirmed by the presence of unique amplicons of the expected size following electrophoresis on 3% (v/w) agarose gels (A) and by dissociation curves with a single peak (B to D).
